NEVERS: Earthenware pot-pourri, 17th Century


NEVERS. Glazed pot-pouri fitted with two handles and small pedestal. Polychrome decoration known as “with palette” on each side of Chinese scenes enlivened with boulders and woods.
Gadrooned trompe l’oeil on small pedestal. Combwork and speckling on handles. Pierced lid decorated with flower sprays in Kakiemon manner.

Bearing collection label: G. Papillon with yellow background.

Late 17th Century.

Minor hairline crack on body’s border.

Height: 18,5 cm (7-1/4 in.).
Length: 26 cm (10-1/2 in.).
