Hendrick-Martensz Sorgh began his career painting interior scenes that reflecting daily life in Holland during his time. He played with light in order to present certain elements. With his brown tonalities, compositions, small dimensions, often painted on wood, signed and dated. This one bears the monogram: H.M.Z. and the date 1641.

Condition report:
The painting is in good condition with impacted dirt under a yellow varnish.
The painting was painted onto a healthy and leveled panel.
