French Masonic certificate from “St Frédérick des Amis choisis” (St. Frederick of Selected Friends) Lodge, Boulogne-sur-Mer, France, with allegorical decoration. Issued “4ème jour du 11ème mois de l’an de La Vraie Lumière 5805, c. janvier 1806.” (4th day of 11th month of year of the Actual Moon 5805, circa January 1806).
Large pre-printed vellum, wide framework sepia-engraved with Masonic motifs; document under glass, gilt wood frame; slightly paled engraving.

Certificate issued to Boulogne merchant Silvestre Chuaveau, 46 years old, granted « GRADE DE SOUVERAIN PRINCE ROSE-CROIX » (SOVEREIGN RANK OF PINK-CROSS PRINCE). The document is signed Chaveau and by fourteen lodge members including Augustin BERQUIER-NEUVILLE (1760-1840), former deputy at Conseil des Cinq-Cents and Corps législatif, and Antoine VERSIAL, former administrator of military hospital and merchant in Boulogne.
The « St Frédérick des Amis Choisis » lodge at Boulogne-sur-Mer was part of the Grand Orient of France in 1788. Dormant during the French Revolution, re-organize during the Empire, it disappeared in 1825. The Marshall Ney was a participant when he lead the Boulogne Camp.
