After Barend Van Orley for the Gobelins Manufacture. La Paie des moissonneurs. Printed fabric

"La paye des moissonneurs" (The Harvester's Pay) is one of the subjects depicted in the Twelve month tapestry hangings, more commonly known as "Mois Lucas".
This hanging derives it's name from the creator of the original hanging, realized in Brussels in the 16th century, the Flaming Lucas de Leyde but most likely realized by the circle of Barend Van Orley.
In the 17th and 18th centuries, the Gobelins produced not less than twelve tapestry hangings after the original Months, showing the success of these Flemish scenes amongst the aristocracy. Our tapstery hanging is a modern re-edition printed on fabric.
